GIC was established in 1983 and is owned equally by the six Arabian Gulf governments of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. GIC was established to further investment opportunities in the Gulf region, support regional co-operation and stimulate private enterprise.
