Waqar Akbar joined Mumtalakat in 2015 and currently holds the position of Senior Director, Strategic Investments, responsible for new investments and managing existing portfolio companies across a variety of sectors, both locally and internationally. Prior to Mumtalakat, Waqar was Vice President at Mubadala, overseeing both investment and portfolio management initiatives in its Technology & Industry group.

Waqar has also worked with McKinsey & Company, IBM and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Economics from Middlebury College, USA.

Waqar represented Mumtalakat on the boards of GEMS Education, Nobel Learning, and NAS Neuron Health Services until their successful divestments, and continues to serve on the board of Envirogen Group.
