On the sidelines of Gateway Gulf 2026: Mumtalakat and TRAIL Partner to Explore Investment Opportunities Across Sports, Gaming and Esports

Collaboration establishes a framework to explore joint investment opportunities across sports, gaming, esports and entertainment, while connecting international businesses with opportunities in Bahrain and the wider Gulf region.

Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company ("Mumtalakat"), the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and TRAIL, a European private equity investment platform, today announced a cooperation agreement to explore investment opportunities across sports, gaming and esports.

The partnership will identify and evaluate potential co-investment opportunities, facilitate the exchange of sector expertise, and explore opportunities to support the growth of selected businesses. It builds on Mumtalakat's existing relationship with TRAIL and its SLAM investment platform, which focuses on the interconnected worlds of sport, luxury, arts and music.

The cooperation will also explore opportunities to connect international sports and gaming businesses with Bahrain and the wider Gulf region, including opportunities to establish commercial partnerships and expand their activities across the region.

The collaboration reflects the increasing convergence of traditional sports and competitive gaming, as live experiences, digital content and online communities increasingly form part of an interconnected entertainment ecosystem. Through the partnership, Mumtalakat and TRAIL will combine their respective investment expertise and industry networks to identify and evaluate businesses with long-term growth potential and explore opportunities to create sustainable value.
